Dr. Celeste Springer
The 2003 Mrs. South Carolina America Pageant in Newberry at the historical Newberry Opera House attracted an enthusiastic crowd with lots of them cheering for our favorite dentist, female that is, Dr. Celeste Springer.
The pageant weekend began with a limousine ride to Columbia so that the contestants could be on the WIS-TV Talk of the Town midday show. Then it was off to the Capital City Club for a luncheon sponsored by some of the delegates' state legislators, and finally a tour of the State House and photo shoot. The next day, the delegates toured Carter & Holmes Orchids and enjoyed an orientation luncheon and a cosmetic seminar, then ended the evening with a welcome luau barbecue.
The finals pageant production was emceed by Charlie James and Pam Wilder of WCOS 97.5 FM morning radio show. The contestants paraded in their state costumes. Earlier in the day interviews had been held where the judges reviewed the contestants history, community activities, and questioned them for the personality portion. The delegates also competed in Swimsuit and Evening Gown where their husbands escorted them on stage.
At the conclusion, the 2003 Mrs. South Carolina America title was awarded to Dr. Celeste Springer. She also won Most Fit, Longest Marriage (14 years), and Advertisement Sales for the program. Among a long list of prizes, she won a trip to the Mrs. World Pageant in Las Vegas and competed in the Mrs. America Pageant in Honolulu, Hawaii in September.
At the Nationals, Dr. Springer, represented our state slogan "Smiling Faces, Beautiful Places" as the tooth fairy.
Her platform is "Fitness for Life" and she has been involved in various speaking engagements since holding her title. She has appeared on WLTX, ETV, judged numerous pageants including the USC Homecoming King and Queen, and participated in many parades. She also represents Exotica, International and their fine ladies' apparel.
