Teeth Whitening

Some of the following reasons why staining on the teeth occurs:

Age:: Over the years, stains build up on the teeth due to wear and tear. Also, the older we get, the more difficult it is to remove stains from the teeth, although not impossible.
Translucency and Thinness:: Due to genetics some of us may naturally have more transparent and thin teeth, which in essence does not make our teeth sparkle as much and less responsive to bleaching. This condition cannot be corrected by any form of teeth whitening.
Eating Habits:: The consumption of red wine, tea, cola, carrots, oranges, and other deeply colored beverages and food causes staining over the years. Also, acidy foods such as citrus fruits cause enamel erosion, which makes the surface more transparent.
Smoking Habits:: Nicotine leaves brownish deposits which slowly soak into the tooth structure and cause discoloration.
Grinding:: Teeth grinding can cause cracks in the teeth while the biting edges begin to darken over time. Grinding is most commonly caused by stress.
Trauma:: Falls or injuries can cause cracks in the teeth and may lead to a build-up of debris and/or color stains over time.
