How You Can Benefit From Sedation Dentistry
Sleep Dentistry

Aesthetic Smile Studio offers sedation dentistry, or "sleep dentistry," as a safe and painless way for patients to relax during routine dental treatment or minimally invasive procedures. Only one small pill is needed to help the patient relax through the entire process. Patients essentially wake up from their procedure with their beautiful new smile and without any memory of the treatment.
Patients request sedation dentistry at Aesthetic Smile Studio for a variety of reasons:
They have a high fear of dentistry
They are impatient when receiving dental work
They have difficulty getting numb
They are highly sensitive
They want to reduce the fatigue of dental work - requiring longer visits
Dr. Celeste and Dr. Bryan Springer realize these concerns are very common, and they make every effort to ensure their patients are comfortable. They believe nothing should prevent patients from getting the dental treatment they need or want.
Sedation Dentistry FAQ
How deeply will I sleep during treatment?
Oral sedation can range from minimal to moderate, depending on the dosage given. Moderate oral sedation is used most often and causes many patients to feel groggy enough to fall completely asleep.
How will I wake up from oral sedation?
Patients can usually be woken from oral sedation with a gentle tap or shake.
Will I also need numbing medication with oral sedation?
Typically, patients will also receive a local anesthetic at the treatment site to relieve any discomfort regardless of the strength of the sedation.
When is general anesthesia used?
General anesthesia is typically used during more extensive procedures like placing dental implants. Patients feel no pain and are completely asleep. They can be woken up once the medication wears off or is reversed with another medication.
